12 children entering Grades 2–4. Beginners will learn the parts of the instrument, and how to correctly hold the instrument, how to pluck elementary notes. They will learn to play a short song for the recital held on August 25th at 10:30 a.m. Please enter child’s age, grade, instrument (violin, viola, cello) and amount/years of experience in note to instructor box. Peace Pole Dedication

Peace Poles can be found on all continents around the world. When you plant a Peace Pole, you are linking with people all over the world who have planted Peace Poles in the same spirit of peace. Our Peace Pole will proclaim, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in many languages. Children will be selecting the languages they would like represented on our Peace Pole during the month of July. During our dedication ceremony we’ll sing “Let there be Peace on Earth”, have crafts from various countries and then finish with an ice cream in the courtyard. BPJ419
Discovering the Universe

30 children. The Vanderbilt Museum presents “Discovering the Universe” Traveling Classroom. Learn how astronomers acquire knowledge about the Universe. This program will introduce children to five interactive exhibits exploring light, telescopes, digital imaging, 3-D universe and gravity. So hop on the bus for some super science fun! BPJ417

Participants will learn about these creeping, crawling and intriguing creatures as art instructor and naturalist Jan Porinchak leads participants step by step in creating Three -dimensional artwork of beetles, butterflies, bees, and more! Jan will create excitement by introducing children to some real insects! The sculptures will be painted, and taken home ready to display. Fun for both children and adults. BPJ613
